Turning Art Into a Safe Haven
At New Urban Arts (NUA), mentorship and creativity intertwine to shape the next generation of artists and thinkers. Through its Youth Mentorship in the Arts program, NUA connects about 20 professional artist mentors with high school students who gather daily in a vibrant, welcoming studio space. Together, they explore painting, photography, music, writing, and more—building not just artistic skills, but confidence, resilience, and community.
For many students from Classical and Central High Schools, NUA’s free programs are an essential part of their arts education. The White Family Foundation’s continued support helps sustain this creative safe haven, where young people are encouraged to experiment, express themselves freely, and discover the power of art to shape their futures.
